EXTENDED SCHOOL YEAR (ESY)/SUMMER SCHOOL VIRTUAL INSTRUCTION PLAN
Extended School Year (Esy)/Summer School Virtual Instruction Plan
Due to the continued health risks associated with in-person school attendance, Solterra Academy will be providing ESY Services (Summer School) in a 100% virtual mode using the digital platforms we have been using since schools closed in March. The goal of our Continued Learning Opportunities during our ESY (Summer School) session will be to continue to address each student’s IEP goals and objectives to greatest extent possible given the circumstances.
ESY Services will begin on Monday, July 6th, and end on Friday, August 7th (5 weeks). Staff will be available to provide, academic instruction, counseling, and related services between the hours of 8:30 and 1:30 only. While we understand that these hours may constitute a hardship for some of our working families, we are asking that they be respected as closely as possible to protect our staff’s time with their own families this summer.
Academic Instruction
Due to the social nature of our summer programming, each teacher will be providing at least 1 hour of direct, whole group instruction for students via Zoom. The exact schedule of this time will vary depending on the teacher, and they will communicate that directly to their parents prior to the start of ESY/Summer School.
Digital Platforms
Counseling and Related Services
- Our Clinicians and Related Service personnel will be available during regular ESY/Summer School hours of 8:30 to 1:30.
- After hours clinical support can be obtained by calling 860-612-2300 and pressing 1.
- Social Skills instruction will be provided live via Zoom once a week for each classroom. The classroom teacher will notify each family about what day and time their group is scheduled.
- Clinicians and Related Service personnel will contact families to set up individual service times that work for families.
- Services can be delivered via telephone, video conferencing via Zoom, and/or through the Microsoft 365 platform.
- While not online continuously, clinicians and related service staff will monitor email and other communication with students and parents regularly throughout the ESY/Summer School hours.
