Our Academic Programs
All Solterra Academy classes foster the overall development of the student in a structured, supportive learning environment. Each student’s program is highly individualized according to the student’s profile of strengths and areas of need.
Elementary School
Solterra Academy delivers comprehensive curriculum with differentiated instruction for students with all exceptionalities. With smarter preparation there is a strong focus on creating incentives and positive behavioral support for each student.
Solterra Academy specializes in functional academics application for students with cognitive compromises. Emphasis is placed on core academics with a variety of programs to meet students’ individual needs while also providing the basics of art, music and physical education.
Therapeutic Services

Middle - High School
Solterra Academy delivers comprehensive curriculum with differentiated instruction for students with all exceptionalities in secondary school levels. All of our Middle School programming focuses on Smarter Balanced and NGSS ( Next Generation Science Standards) preparation standards with incentives for participation. All curriculum taught is aligned with CCSS as well as NGSS, the CT social studies framework and State Health, Physical Education, Art and Music standards. We have designed functional skills programming to be inclusive of any student with cognitive compromises.
Each classroom has integrated technologies including SMART Boards and Apple iPads to enhance student learning. In conjunction with technology, instruction and learning are done with the latest programs and techniques including remedial reading instruction inclusive of the Edmark and Wilson Reading systems. Each student participates in art, physical education, and music. Course credits are awarded as appropriate for each student fulfilling their educational requirements.
